Tip #1:

Initial warpin will grab you aggro off the first set of NPC's, kill these off first, do not move when you drop out of warp unless you can safely align away from the spawns. The second group will aggro the closer you get to the can, so start approaching the can and then stop once this group aggros you.

Third and fourth aggros come from that center group, again once you have killed the second group move closer to the can until you pick up aggro off 2 BS's and a couple of frigs/cruisers. then once done, finish off the rest

Tip #2

Destroy the first aggroing group then stay still, target the navy orion and destroy it, this will break up the aggro and will not aggro the other ships next to it. (Tested 7 times).

The navy orion (Tip #2) has excellent resistance to kenetic even if you have bonuses, but is weak to thermal.

Note to miner's dream.. This is a LOT of ore to those not familiar.. several expert miners could take hours to clean it all out.
-- BoSnerdly (2008-06-23 16:13:31)
Destroying the Orion did complete the mission.
So for those who like farming missions be aware of that
-- BruceBlacky (2008-08-30 06:35:35)
I actually lost a CNR to the fact that usually the poster makes marks outside the shiptypes when they function as warpscramblers or webifiers.

Could the poster not make those edits to make the player more aware of those shiptypes, yes i know it states it in the overview on top of the page, but this is still a really good way to make one alert!.
-- ConTonkTen (2008-09-15 18:40:46)
After the initial aggro, I destroyed Orion, aggroing a few ships. The mission wasn't flagged as completed then. I then proceeded to destroy the ships in that group, the last of which was the frigate Elite Federation Libertus. Upon destroying that ship, the mission got flagged as completed.
-- KurosakiStrawberry (2008-12-02 10:03:35)
Dont start shooting before all the spawns show up, or you'll pull full aggro.
-- YoinX (2008-12-13 20:29:33)
Successfully completed very easily in a Dominix. The kernite is a long way away from the warp in point if you want to mine it... After DT the mission flags as complete, i.e. everything is gone including the 'roids and gate so difficult to farm this one.
-- Peon155 (2009-01-16 16:16:37)
It appears to me that the mission flags complete when you kill all of the 2nd spawn. Important to note when trying to farm the mission for mining.
-- BrietteStark (2009-05-19 10:23:31)
Just finishing up with a raven, done with extreme ease. For the 1st 2 waves, dont send ur drones after, they will get aggroed, but they wont target you, even if you recall your drones. Good insignia's in the wrecks, and pretty good salvage.
-- JaneOsiris (2009-06-14 22:56:39)
Ummm, nice tables. But does anyone else think there's more info there than there really needs to be ?
-- KhanaLoaris (2009-10-25 18:17:47)
Spawn 2 Contains +2 Federation Covinus ships ... Could be replacements to some other ships or actual additions ... Began looting before getting accurate count on Spawn 2 (as of 11/19/2009)
-- VengEnce (2009-11-09 09:02:47)
shooting at the navy orion did aggro other ships next to it.....
-- StrykeZor (2009-11-14 11:35:36)
Get rid of the tables, seriously no one cares about individual ship DPS, just total incoming DPS, and DPS of each group as aggroed. I've removed other extra damage information on other missions that gave less info. It isn't in the slightest bit helpful.
-- SyphurouS (2009-12-08 00:50:28)
Personally, I like the additional information on the tables. It isn't really a bonus for soloing, but I commonly run in groups, and did not know that the ships in this mission had 0 em on shield and 20 expl on armor. When doing this in a group I now know to have one ship with EM loaded and one with expl. - especially if we're using bombers or fast BS's with torps.

I also see some value in knowing which ship hits the hardest, as that will be my primary target while burst-tanking. A good example in addition to this mission, would be the angel ganza bonus room. The thermal cruise in there will catch you off-guard when you tank primarily expl/kin. The eveinfo site listed the cruise launchers' extreme damage, which was handy for figuring out "wtf just happened in there."

Please don't see this as arguement, as it's just an opinion from another point of view - I've wanted to see precise resists and damage outputs here for quite some time, and eveinfo does not seem to be kept current. One thing I would change, however, is the white background of the "totals" row at the table base, as it's almost unreadable in the IGB.

Perhaps moving the tables to the bottom of the page would allow the information to be available without adding complexity to the page-view for those such as SyphurouS that don't really need/want it.
-- SuperTex (2009-12-17 18:41:16)
Great mission, I completed this slightly differently due to the fact I just nearly lost my raven. If you fly closer to the can to attract more aggro (as in tip #1)you will get warp scrambled. When I tried to kill this ship I got nearly full room aggro.
This is how I did it in the end....
To start warp in and after 10sec all the ships will have appeared, only kill the aggro ships while flying away i.e. straight down my drones did not get aggro after 60km. Once you have killed inital aggro snipe the orion from max distance (for me 93km) once you have killed it and the couple of others that join it, go for next closeset group and then the next and so on until you have taken them all out. While you are doing this fly back to the can on low speed so you coinside your last kill with opening the can.
Final point, while the ship totals are interesting they don't help with the mission.

I completed it in a standard Raven set up but with Two T2 Thermal and One T2 Kinetic hardener. Never went below half shields, but did have 5 T2 drones to kill the frig's. No bounties but you do get nice tags and some nice 1mill plus guns, you also lose faction points because its Gallente.
-- HappyFanatic (2010-02-07 08:14:46)
I urge caution on this mission. Watch your aggro, I nearly lost my Navy Dominix due to me not watching what I was hitting.
Luckily I had a fleet of small drones to get rid of the Warp Scrambling frig that insisted on me sticking around.
-- NoodlesSeventwo (2010-03-09 05:14:04)
Aggroed the whole pocket with my Nightmare, tank barely held. The info on this page is useless.
-- NullVoid (2010-06-08 00:49:43)
"Aggroed the whole pocket with my Nightmare, tank barely held. The info on this page is useless."

I'm sorry, did you expect an entire pocket aggro on this mission to not almost overwhelm a shieldtanked T1 ship? Especially the Nightmare? While I didn't write the mission page, I would hardly say the information on this page is useless. The golden rule of EVE missions, IMO, is only aggro what you can handle. Obviously you bit off more than you could chew, and took it out on the writer(s) of the info.

Just saying that seems a bit rude and blame-gaming.
-- ForteEXE (2010-06-15 10:14:45)
I tend to agree w/ Forte

I found most of the info provided quite useful....for everyone else, as they say, take what you need and leave the rest....
-- KatyaTereshkova (2010-06-18 13:39:53)
Completed easily in T2 passive Drake in about an hour.
-- CrapOnu (2010-07-26 11:42:42)
Fairly easy in a Raven following the guidelines. Went out to 90 Km to snipe the Orion. The only problem I had was drone aggro, so I lost 3 hobs.
-- Odojoe1 (2011-01-05 22:36:08)
Omber and Kernite have been removed from this mission. Verified 2/2/2011
-- JimmyDoe (2011-02-02 17:55:35)
confirmed. miners dream is gone - here too! no more omber or kernite there
since incursion. thanks for again for a great update...
-- RaabenFeder (2011-02-05 14:14:14)
Just did this in Abaddon within 40 mins (Alt using Noctis alongside Aba as Aba took full aggro);

Aba fitting was
5 Tachyon, 3 Dual heavy in highs
4 cap recharger 2 in mid
1 DC2, 1 Kinetic / Thermal Hardner each, 1 Kinetic / Thermic energiged plate each, 2 LAR 2
3 CCC as rigs.

Even with full aggro I could tank with just 1 LAR at 80% armour.

Amma

Just did this in Machariel 35 min
2 Inv II
X-Large Shield Booster
Shield Boost Ampf
100 Mn Ab
3 CCC rigs
manage agrro, np
-- CptUdo (2011-02-28 10:40:50)
Incredibly easy to do this mission, completed in 30 minutes with a faction fitted active tank golem. if you know what your doing and read the mission notes then there should be no reason you cant do this in a standard BS with T2 fits.
-- Gunner75 (2011-03-07 16:49:04)
Just about lost my CNR being overconfident. I figured I'd save time and keep heading to the settlement, then finally got scrammed when shields and cap were both below 20%. NOS saved my "stern".

My agor-management tip is to orbit the settlement at max range, grab partial agro, rinse, repeat. After warp-in agro, try for group 3 via the Gamma frigs; otherwise grab agro by approaching the settlement. Snipe the Orions and cruisers at max range, so their DPS will be practically zero. Blaster's DPS givith while falloff taketh.

Next bring back a salvager for the residents and big-isk tags, then complete.
-- SaikouAkuma (2011-05-02 12:27:35)
I started by destroying the aggroing group, then attacked the navy orion to aggro its group as stated in tip #2, worked like a charm considering at this point i usually catch full pocket aggro.

After catching aggro from the Orion's group i was able to safely deploy sentry's on them while i finished the Orion with my missiles. after destroying that group the incoming dps from the rest of the pocket barely scratched my tank. ran a passive rattlesnake with a fairly light tank, more dps focused. eft with 50/50 therm/kin read up at just under 600 tank.
-- OfficerEvil (2011-06-11 21:30:48)
Small problem if trying to farm this mission. Seems that the Orion group frigate will scramble if other frigates are present when the Orion group is engaged. Otherwise, the Orion group frigate will only web. I've tested this three times so far. The scrambler frigate can be outrun and the scramble will disengage. For me, this happened at a distance of approx 250Km from the port.
-- SmokeLuvr1971 (2011-09-16 14:20:40)
Looks like I posted too soon. This time around the Orion group frigate scrambled me with no other frigates present. I guess Scram/Web is chance-based. Magnetometric ECM will break the target lock and get rid of the scramble
-- SmokeLuvr1971 (2011-09-17 15:21:06)
Okay, just done this mission. I can say when you warp in the fours ships that auto-agro you kill them then you can use drones. Using drones while the first spawn is alive will get whole pocket agro on your drones - agro doesnt switch to you when recalled or drones are killed. Also i was using standard Kinetic cruise missiles i was hitting about 475, after getting low i switched to thermal and i was hitting 1200+. Save your ammo and use THERMAL. IDC what the guide said thermal FTW =D
-- ExPOSED (2012-05-03 06:28:12)
Just completed this in a RNI, and followed Tip #1 exactly. Works as advertised. Extremely easy. Took 20 minutes without rushing anything. Just take it slow and do it right. I did not get scrammed or webbed by anyone, and it wouldn't have mattered if I did.

Fit:
2x CN Kinetic Deflection
1x CN Thermic Dissipation
1x Pith B-Type XL Shield Booster
1x Heavy Capacitor Booster II with 800s [not needed]
1x TP II
4x CN BCS
1x Power Diagnostic System II
I have 3x Large Warhead Rigor Catalyst rigs which lets me 1-shot the Cruisers

Two notes:

1. Distance to can before first aggro is 18k, second is 16k, last is 5k.

2. When you "Approach" the can, you will fly straight up toward it. I forget the name of the structure between you and the can, but if you're in a BS (Raven, anyway), you will probably bump into the structure and need to steer manually around it.

I did not bother following tip 2 and, because of that, my shields got to 1/3 and I needed to cycle the shield booster a few times. No big deal.

Every time you launch your drones (except for the last wave) they will draw fire from non-aggroing ships. It's interesting to watch. :-) So you'll want to monitor your drones closely and maybe bring them in and wait half a minute or so before sending them back out again.

OH - and Standing Loss is not 0.06%. It's 0.06% _TWICE_. :-)
