Need some clarification regarding the Blitz / who drops the can.
-- ChepeNolon (2008-06-01 13:58:23)
From Somal Thunder:

The ship that drops the cargo container is the Core Rear Admiral. It orbits at 37 km.
-- ChepeNolon (2008-06-27 09:54:59)
The can have always drop with the LAST ship of the right group, so leave 1 ship alive and kill the 37Km BS and the can appear near you
-- SerranoBalthar (2008-07-23 04:10:43)
I discovered today at warp in, if you target the 3 scram spy frigs in middle group, only those 3 and 3 other frigs (butchers) aggro you. Did the mission in a Domi. Never even used my LAR.
-- RussLee (2008-08-22 17:22:07)
Confirming this last comment about the spy frigs. Just tried the same, shot one of them at 89 km range, only the 3 scrammers and the other 3 frigs aggroed. Nice way to make the mission even easier :)
-- AremonMoonserpent (2008-09-20 09:37:32)
For me the can has always been dropped by the transport ship, Always leave them till last when they are nice and close.....
-- MissionDude (2008-11-12 16:37:10)
Switched things up the last 3 times I did this mission. Can consistently drops from the last 1 or 2 ships killed. This remained true even when I saved cruisers and intys for last. Pretty sure blitzing isn't really an option here (unless finishing with one ship left counts as a blitz).

As for Cleanup, it seems I warp in at slightly different position each time. This seems to affect chain aggro unless I reposition first (which adds time, so I don't do it). More evidene that this one's unblitzable IMO.
-- TreeFingers (2008-12-10 12:35:49)
Easy in Nighthawk. 2x Inv Field II - just aggro everything and kill them as they get within 20km (to make looting easier); dps is negligible. Can dropped from Core Rear Admiral for me.
-- OdiTogre (2008-12-27 21:09:24)
agroing right most group agro's center group as well. can dropped from the last rat of center group.

if you save the transports for last... it drops 4k from you ;)
-- SkinGrapht (2008-12-31 10:23:21)
Discussion from [[AnathemaMatou]]:

there is a lot of wrong info here. first of all, it's 4 groups: right, middle front, middle back (6 frigates), left group. shooting the right one aggroes the middle-front as well, and apparently the middle-back group can be aggroed standalone (see comments). however the middle-back and right group aggroed my second gang member after the right group was dead and he started to shoot the middle-front group. the can did not drop from the right group, which i finished first. it dropped from the last ship of the middle-front group for me (unfortunately this was the last group standing, so I can't say anything definitive about a blitz).
-- KismetEer (2009-01-04 20:59:42)
The container was dropped by Core Rear Admiral for me.
Did this in a faction/t2 fitted CNR. Difficulty: easy.
-- SpLendid (2009-01-29 14:31:46)
To further clarify, especially the blitz. There are 4 groups, 2 groups of 6 frigates. The far right and what people are referring to as Group 3 is actually one group, thus when you shoot either one you get all of them. This is the group that drops the mission item. You need only aggro the right front group of 6 frigates after warping in, once you kill them shoot anything in the far right group. Kill the ships coming at you from the right, then start targeting the other ships. I finished the mission with 14 ships still alive, the rear group of 6 frigates and the far left group. Well then I killed them just to collect the bounties, but yes you can blitz this mission without killing every ship.
-- LeetusSeduli (2009-04-03 00:00:42)
Yes, I agree with Leetus, I completed this mission without touching the 6 frigs in the back, and the entire left group was left untouched as well.
-- FenceJumper (2009-06-15 12:23:57)
Pocket 1: Flew away from them in my T2 fitted Rokh (easy).

Bounty: 2,7 mill
Mission: 1,3 mill
Loot and salvage: 4,6 mill
Total: 8,6 mill
-- MrT (2009-08-22 10:23:48)
I killed the Serpentis Transport Ships to get the item to drop. (There where three of them.)

Also, all those transport ship structures dont drop anything :(
-- LifeHatesMe (2009-09-09 16:12:59)
Item dropped by: Rear Admiral.
-- SpLend0r (2009-10-07 08:29:34)
I warped out to get more ammo in the middle of doing the Right-Center group. when I returned, only half the remaining ships aggroed on me, which just made things easier.
-- BuilderAlphaOne (2009-10-27 23:35:23)
Just did this in a Raven and a Brutix. It was crazy easy, I only turned on my shield booster to give the impression of invincibility to the Brutix pilot.

Therm damage all the way, "kite" the enemies, shoot what you damn well like, and everything should go as well for you as it did for me.
-- AsdayXyfu (2009-11-21 05:17:46)
I tried the blitz, shot a cruiser from the center-right group, looked funny to me, the center right and center left groups were switched, anyways, i shot the cruiser, and i got aggro of the entire room :/ not exactly what i would call blitzing, almost had to warp out in the loki. but some distance and it went fine otherwise, let drones do cleanup on frigs and focus on other stuff :)
-- FenceMover (2009-11-23 16:10:40)
did this in a t2 fit domi, pulled full agro went afk silly easy mission
-- ArbiterReformed (2009-11-26 23:48:59)
also completed in a t2 fitted domi with only drones and 3 x 425mm II's
only ran med armor rep II half way into full agro and never fell below 70%
very easy mission
-- MatriX (2009-12-10 15:04:52)
to test this blitz vs no blitz question, I went in with a proteus (94/96 th/kin resists, 1200 HP repaired every 10s, etc.) I went straight for the transport ships ignoring or droning anything else that got in the way - the transport ships just dropped drugs if you did that.

so then I went on to target the BS's- nope.

so then I went on to target the brutixy looking ones - nope.

02:02:13 Combat Core Flotilla Admiral hits you, doing 18.8 damage.

by this point I realized I had better ISk to make in nullsec so I clonejumped back there, fuck this mission.
-- MaciejSimm (2010-04-01 22:07:31)
Just did this in a AC Sleipnir, extremely easy.

I agroed right group and got whole room agro, except far left. Was able to tank at 100% shield the whole time.
-- JeroNica (2010-04-05 09:50:44)
Did this in a Geddon, was very easy !!
-- NeoReeves (2010-05-21 02:45:27)
Domi, T2 fit, cake.
-- MrTravis (2010-05-24 23:50:32)
For me the groups were more or less swapped laterally as well. Also, the far left and the far right were the same and equal to what is described as "far left" above, i.e. 1BS, 2BC, 3EWC, 2D/2F. What is described as the right group was missing. The Right-Center group was split into two separately killable groups equal to the far left / far right groups.

This looks like it needs a little further refinement ...
-- LiviaCatarella (2010-07-30 17:08:36)
Very easy mission, you can snipe scramblling frigs (agent, spy) without agroing other groups. Once they are dead I have started with closest group and kill them one buy one. If you are in BS, you dont have to be carefull and can agroo whole room. I moved back about 20km while fighting closest group, the rest was easily sniped from place. Just dont snipe small low bounty frigs. Drones will take care of them and you can start shooting bigger targets.

Bounty: 3.25mil (0% tax rate)
Salvage and loot: 6 mil
Misison reward: 1.84mil

Total: over 11 mil ISK
-- RaikoOsburn (2010-08-09 15:51:20)
The can didn't drop from the battleships for me, but from one of the cruisers.
-- DocWilco (2010-08-15 13:37:39)
I blitzed the mission all right, with a large amount of NPCs remaining (The Group with the Core Baron in it never aggroed).
I started by aggroing the rightmost group. Other NPCs aggroed and then I killed them one by one using sentries exclusively (Ishtar with Garde IIs, 1 MAR active for the lulz).
Out of all aggroing ships, I kept the Rear Admiral for last. When it died it dropped the can with Viral Agent.
Very easy mission indeed. 14 NPCs left on the battlefield.
-- DiFuz (2010-12-26 07:00:51)
The can dropped from the LAST transport ship for me - killed everything else in room first - then the transports as I could not finish mission without killing them! (I got no standing loss)
-- CrazyCraven (2011-03-19 16:37:56)
I can confirm DiFuz's method. I aggroed the rightmost group, slaughtered everything that aggroed back, and found the agent after popping the last Transport. 14 NPCs left.
-- SychthysRashka (2011-04-04 11:46:50)
Can dropped from Rear Admiral, he was 2nd last killed. Mission rating as EASY with a tanked Hyperion.
-- BioHaZZarD99 (2011-05-06 23:57:03)
Can dropped 4th from last enemy. I killed the Read Admiral first, nothing happened. I recommend skipping this mission, due to the amount of time spent.

Maelstrom: T2 arty fit
-- TiffanyAsques (2011-08-03 01:17:08)
I shot at the right group and got aggro from about 3/4ths the ships. I was at 50k so maybe too close. I used a T1 fitted mega with mwd and 425mm railguns. I found this mission extremely easy. I recommend this mission to any beginner Battleship pilots that like to kite. Much more bounties than lvl 3 and just as easy. At 40 - 100k I was never touched by them. One sensor dampener from a thorax.
-- Dethbringer1 (2011-10-22 23:45:40)
All five (there are five) groups can be aggro'd separately. First, I flew to the right to get proximity aggro from the rightmost group and was able to pull only that group. Then, I flew slightly to the left and pulled the center group with the core admiral and the transports. One of the ships, the last one for me, in this group dropped the mission objective. Loot the can and got the mission complete. This left the group on the far left and two groups of frigates/destroyers in the center. There is one group guarding the outpost, and one on the armory. They can be pulled separately as well. If you have a good tank, it's much quicker to take several groups, or the whole room, at a time, but it can be done this way. Each group can be pulled separately as long as you get aggro without shooting first.
-- RoperKlax (2012-09-13 15:59:53)
Less than 10 minutes in Navy Geddon, T2 fit, T1 guns.
Align and start to shoot when closest rat is at about 45 km.(my worst targeting range after dampening starts)
Kill frigs first. Sweet and easy mission. Even a scratch on the paint...
-- ReaveToralen (2012-10-18 10:51:23)
Since Retribution at least, this is expensive on drones - lots of small ships that will target them even if not aggroed.

Also, be careful when engaging groups. Some or all aggro based on range. If you need to approach, particularly one of the flank groups, be careful not to get too close to the central groups.
-- EloisePasteur (2013-01-09 07:25:19)
Done this mission twice this week. First time I had bad problems with drones being targeted. Lost six and withdrew about 15.

This time my drones didn't get targeted at all. The only difference I can see is that this time I had the drones on Passive whereas last time they were set on aggressive.

Although on aggressive last time I didn't let them do their own thing. I directed them to targets all the time. This, if it means anything, tends to indicate that merely being on aggressive attracts aggro. Needs more testing and analysis
-- AbeDoo (2013-04-10 17:10:03)
Waste of time
Bounty 3,1 mil
Salvage/loot: 1,5 mil
-- EveMir (2013-09-13 10:30:30)
Mission is a waste of time as EveMir said.
Done this mission a few times lately. Shooting the left-most group did not aggro whole room. Shooting the right-most group aggroed whole room.
-- LolesChech (2013-11-13 10:42:28)
Domi Navy - Easy
Lost a couple of T2 light drones before I could call them back.. damaged others.
Definatly have your drones on passive and pick your targets carefully.
Bounties = 2.1m
Loot + Salvage + Structures = 3.5m
Waste of time as others have said.
