Mission briefing
There is a monument where a battle in the Gallente-Caldari war occurred within Gallente space. We once tolerated pilgrimaging Caldari, but with this war we cannot allow the Caldari any excuse to proceed this deep within our space. Such leniency would only invite terrorism. I need you to destroy the monument, and any witnesses to the event.

Objective
Destroy the monument and leave no witnesses alive

Upon warp in, the pocket is empty. There are 7 monuments in a circle. Ships will spawn after destroying the monument in the middle. Mission is deemed complete after killing the last ship.

Something to be aware of - I took a standings hit from Caldari State after this mission for "Combat - Ship Kill" ("This penalty was incurred for destroying Caldari State's Caldari Lookout in <mission system>").
Didn't notice any of the monuments/ships flagged as Caldari but there you go...
If you're trying to avoid standings losses with Caldari State prob best to decline this one.

From Patch Notes for Apocrypha 1.2 :

The mission "No Excuse" will now clearly advise players that there will be no faction penalty for shooting the Gallente ships. The ships have been changed to generic models and will no longer drop tags as a result. In addition, you now must destroy all the NPC's to complete the mission.

The standing loss with Caldari State appears to have gone away after Apocrypha 1.2. My standing transaction log does not show any new entry after completion of the mission.

I can confirm what LiviaCatarella said about standings :)
Mission has changed - when the monument was destroyed I got a message from the agent saying "he'll cover my tracks, no fines, no standings hit".
No standings hit taken from Caldari or Gallente

I don't see why the above author recommends a close combat fit. I did it in an artillery-fitted Hurricane, destroyed the monument from the warp-in point, then burned away from the ships when they warped in. None of them sent a single shot my way before I killed them all.

Jan 2013: Rats "look" like Gallente targets, but when esploded, the wrecks are named "Independant"
